Important Black Women In Tech That Young Girls Should Know About!

If you haven’t seen the movie Hidden Figures, I would highly recommend it because that is where you can get a glimpse into the lives of some very important black women in history that made a name for themselves in the STEM space. These women known as, Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan, and Mary Jackson, worked at Nasa during the Space Race in the 1960s. Throughout trials and tribulations, these amazing mathematicians, who were known at the time as human computers, collaborated on one of the greatest accomplishments known in US History which was sending an astronaut into the orbit. They basically carried this operation on their backs if you really want to get real lol. They made a name for themselves, not only as black women, but intelligent mathematicians that were more than capable of doing anything regardless of the obstacles they may have faced. These women are truly an inspiration to many and their legacy will continue to live on.

Some insightful lessons that we, young girls and women, can take away from this movie, as written by Alicia Morgan :
